What began as a hard to access and off the grid surf break is now an international destination for locals and tourists alike, even playing host to the Billabong ISA Surf Games in 2011. Playa Venao offers many restaurants, a local bakery, fiberoptic internet connection, amazing surf, and lively nightlife. In recent years Venao has seen a sizable concentration of young families making their home here, as it offers unparalleled quality of life for all ages plus the area’s only school nearby in Cañas.

This is a real Panamanian agricultural village next to the protected reserve and amazingly biodiverse island of Isla Cañas. While it is technically outside of the Pedasi District, in the Tonosi district, it is located just five minutes from Playa Venao, so we include it here in the area. The Cañas economy revolves around raising cows, farming rice, fishing, growing watermelons and increasingly tourism.
This area is called “little Tuscany” for its gorgeous rolling hills, fertile soils, and unforgettable views out to the Pacific ocean and the Isla Cañas. There are a few small developments in the area to choose from, and many opportunities to buy land and custom build. Look no further than Cañas if you have ever wanted a sprawling country estate or a small farm homestead.
Properties in Cañas should soon appreciate in value with their new road, dry boat dock, expanded supermarket, and Fiberoptic internet just recently installed. Manglares Discovery School is the only private school operating for PK-3rd grade in the Pedasi district, located right outside of Cañas town and serving many families in the area.
